National Species Reintroduction Forum
The National Species Reintroduction Forum contributes to broad-scale, strategic issues relating to species reintroductions and other conservation translocations in Scotland.
Advising on species reintroductions
The forum’s role is to consider broad-scale, strategic issues relating to native species reintroductions and other types of conservation translocations in Scotland.
NatureScot chairs the forum. Its membership represents a range of stakeholders from the land use, conservation and science sectors.
Best practice guidelines
The forum produced the code of practice and best practice guidelines on conservation translocations, which were launched in July 2014. They set out when conservation translocations may be appropriate and the situations in which they may impact wildlife, people and the environment.

Beaver Salmonid Working Group
The forum also set up a working group to look at the potential impacts of beavers on Atlantic salmon and trout. The group published its independent report in January 2015.
