Funding for landscape projects

Communities and organisations actively involved in caring for Scotland’s nature and landscapes may be eligible for project funding.

The Scottish Rural Development Programme offers the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme and Forestry Grant Scheme.

Historic Environment Scotland offers grants to help meet the cost of preparing landscape management plans for Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes sites. Explore the Landscape Management Plan Grants Scheme on the Historic Environment Scotland website.

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) supports a wide range of projects that focus on our valuable heritage and ensuring that we’re able to pass it on to future generations.

For example, projects may focus on:

  • natural and designed landscapes and gardens
  • places and objects linked to our industrial, maritime and transport past
  • histories of places and events
  • historic buildings and streets
  • archaeological sites

Local authorities can also offer grants for landscape projects, including tree planting. Find your local council on the GOV.UK website.
