Peatland ACTION Fund - How to Acknowledge our support for your project
Guidance for funding applicants (toolkit)
Peatland ACTION Fund Guidance for applicants
How to acknowledge our support for your project
One of the Conditions of receiving funding from us is that you acknowledge our funding of your project during your Contract Period. This will be outlined in your Funding Offer. We may ask you to tell us how you will acknowledge our funding in your application.
1. What must I do to acknowledge your contribution?
You must use:
- Our Peatland ACTION logo;
- Our funding supporting statement:
‘This project is supported by the Scottish Government's Peatland ACTION Fund delivered in partnership with NatureScot and other agencies.’
2. How do I get the logo and brand guidelines?
You can download the NatureScot Peatland ACTION logo and guidelines on use from our website.
Please refer to the full guidelines on how to use the logo correctly. Below are some tips.
- All our logos include an exclusion zone. No text or graphic elements should appear within this zone. This is to keep a neutral and uncluttered background. As such please do not crop the logo (see page 10 of the guidelines).
- Logo size: The logo should never be used any smaller than 30mm wide. Page 9 of the guidelines has advice on applying the correct minimum size for different products.
There are different logo formats available.
If you have any problems accessing the logo or need further advice on how to use it, please contact our Peatland ACTION staff by emailing [email protected].
3. Do I need to position the logo and support statement in a certain way?
Yes. This depends on what level of contribution we’ve made to your project.
Contribution | Logo and support statement position |
---|---|
We are the greatest contributor |
|
We are not the greatest contributor |
|
4. Why do I need to use the logo and support statement?
The awards we make are from public funds. We want the public to know how and where our funding is being spent. By using our logo and support statement people can see that our funding has supported your project.
5. What are the consequences of not acknowledging our contribution?
Acknowledging our contribution to your project is a Condition of your Funding Contract with us. Failing to do so is a breach of Contract and may result in action to withdraw and/or reclaim our funding as per our Standard Terms and Conditions.
6. When and where to use the logo
If you receive funding from us, you must make sure that you acknowledge our funding wherever possible. This will depend on your project. The tables below outline examples of where and how you could do this.
You can find guidance and download our logos from our website.
There are different logo formats available including a logo for use in Social Media.

Media Protocol |
Name of project |
Peatland ACTION |
Tone |
The tone of external communications will be positive, open, honest and factual, even if faced with criticism. |
Media queries/contacts |
You should inform NatureScot’s Peatland ACTION Communications Team of any media queries as soon as possible. When appropriate, broader Peatland ACTION Fund queries should also be referred to the team. If time allows, send statements to NatureScot’s Peatland ACTION Communications Team for review before sending them to the media. |
News releases and publicity |
Peatland ACTION Fund should always be credited, if possible, in any news releases, articles and other publicity items. All news releases must acknowledge the funding received from the Scottish Government’s Peatland ACTION Fund, delivered in partnership with NatureScot and other agencies, when funding has been formally awarded and the Offer of funding has been accepted. We will provide a template press release for you to use to acknowledge the initial award of your grant with your local media once we’ve received your signed Acceptance of Offer. This will include advice on submitting photos with your media release. Copies of news releases should be retained for audit purposes. News releases should be circulated to NatureScot's Peatland ACTION Communications Team [email protected] for review and comment if you would find this helpful and/or require further guidance. When possible, please allow at least three working days for feedback. |
Broadcast interviews
|
Please inform NatureScot’s Peatland ACTION Communications Team of any requests for radio or TV interviews. Please also consider, if appropriate, Peatland ACTION staff as potential interviewees. Verbal communications (e.g. media interviews, public talks) must acknowledge Peatland ACTION Fund support and give credit to the Scottish Government and NatureScot as circumstances permit. |
Pool video and images
|
Internal video/images captured during the lifetime of the project remain the copyright of the funding recipient. These should be made freely available to NatureScot Peatland ACTION on request. If NatureScot uses the material, we will credit the recipient. |
Commissioned or in-house newsletter/magazine articles |
Commissioned and website articles should acknowledge the Scottish Government’s Peatland ACTION Fund, managed by NatureScot with the agreed information about the project and should refer interested parties to our Peatland ACTION web pages. Applicants should seek to publicise the project in their internal communications – e.g. Intranet, in-house publications - whenever possible. Proofs can be sent to the Peatland ACTION Communications Team at NatureScot before publication, where possible. |
10. Digital media
If requested, you must provide us with photographs, transparencies or high resolution digital images, including video images of your project. All images should be in electronic format. You must also meet any other acknowledgement or publicity requirements we may tell you about from time to time.
You give us the right to use the photographs, transparencies or digital images, including video images you provide to us, in any internal or external NatureScot communications. You must secure any permission, including copyright, you need for you and us to use these images, including the consent of anybody appearing in them where applicable, before you send them to us or before you use them.
