- IUCN UK Peatland Programme Conference, Swansea
When: 09 - 11 June 2026
Where: Swansea University’s Bay Campus in South Wales
What: The IUCN UK Peatland Programme Conference provides a valuable convening function for the UK peatland community to share knowledge, enthusiasm and experience and seek solutions to the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. It brings together everyone with an interest in these unique and precious habitats, from land managers, policy makers and businesses to restoration practitioners, creatives and scientists.
Peatland ACTION will have a small delegation at the conference and will be supporting key elements in the agenda,. We’ll share more details soon.

Peatland ACTION training courses in 2026
We competed a series of training courses including Peatland assessment and restoration, Bog bryophytes for beginners, Peatland restoration and protection of the water environment, Forest-to-bog restoration and much more during January, February and March.

When: Thursday 1 August 2024
Where: Mannsfield, Showground, Muir of Ord IV6 7QA, stand I137
What: Peatland ACTION will be hosting a talk at the Harper Macleod stand (I137). at 14:00
Claudia Rowse, Nature Scot Deputy Director, Green Economy, will be discussing why Peatland ACTION is keen to work with landowners, managers and businesses across Scotland to deliver peatland restoration and the many benefits it brings for the rural economy and jobs, as well as for biodiversity, flood mitigation, water quality and of course climate.
Other NatureScot Peatland ACTION team members will also be in attendance to answer your questions.
Forest-to-bog restoration training/discussion 2024
When: 11, 12 and 13 September 2024
Where: Participants will visit several sites in Dalchork forest.
What: NatureScot Peatland ACTION and Forestry and Land Scotland are offering three one day training/discussion event on "Forest to bog restoration, an introduction to the Scottish Peatland Standard, and the implementation of the principles of restoration".
These events will be suitable for contractors, designers, contract managers, landowners, and consultants.

What: Peatland ACTION will be running children’s activities within the RHET Discovery Centre over the four days of the event. Peatland ACTION colleagues will also be available to speak to during the show.

What: Our local Peatland ACTION Project Officer will be part of this hands-on session exploring the social realities, experiences, and perspectives of landowners, land managers and residents of peatland landscapes. You'll also hear from Peatland ACTION during a panel session following the workshop.
