Glen Roy NNR - Visiting the reserve

Explore signs of the last Ice Age at the geological wonderland at Glen Roy.

 

 

 

Getting here

The reserve starts at the viewpoint about 5 kilometres up the glen from Roybridge. You can see most of the reserve from the public road up the glen.

By car

Follow the A82 north-east of Fort William to Spean Bridge. Turn on to the A86 to Roybridge (21 kilometres). At Roybridge, turn left onto a minor road for 7 kilometres.

Car park

There is a car park at the entrance to the reserve.

PH31 4AH is the nearest postcode.

By public transport

The nearest bus stop is in Roybridge, 7 kilometres from the reserve entrance. There is no roadside pavement along the minor road to the reserve.

Coach parties should note that there is a narrow bridge with restricted turning on the minor road (grid reference: NN 283825). Large coaches are not advised.

The nearest railway station is Roybridge (7 kilometres) on the Fort William to Glasgow line.

Four miles up a minor road from Roy Bridge, which is thirteen miles east of Fort William on the A86. Buses and trains from Fort William to Spean Bridge and Roy Bridge.

The Parallel Roads

You’ll find information panels in the car park overlooking the Parallel Roads. There are no formal paths – but the Parallel Roads are easily seen from the minor public road.
