Seabirds between St. Abb's Head and Fast Castle Head were counted in June 2016. This was the first complete count of The St Abb's Head to Fast Castle Special Protection Area for more than a decade. The numbers of birds located in each of the standard Seabird Monitoring Programme count sections that comprise the SPA are presented and compared with historic counts and national trends. Northern Fulmar, European Shag and Black-legged kittiwake were found to have declined significantly since seabird 2000, with smaller declines exhibited by common Guillemot, Razorbill and Herring gull. Guillemot and Razorbill were still more numerous than they were in 1987 however. The SPA previously held a small number of breeding puffin but none were found in this survey. Generally the declining seabirds in the SPA showed greater declines than the national average, and those that were increasing showed smaller increases.
