Your Request
'Regarding the minutes of the NatureScot board meeting discussion held on 12th February 2025 re a potential Galloway National Park, could I please ask for a review of the information supplied as these documents may now have been drafted?
If a new request for this info is needed, can you please treat this email as a new FOI request, only the minutes/discussions from the 12th February 2025 meeting are being requested'
Our Response
We have discussed your request with the staff dealing with the Board and a copy of the 12 February 2025 minutes and the section relating to the proposed Galloway National Park is attached as a separate document to this response.
We have redacted out a small amount of personal data from the information being released to you. Releasing personal data into the public domain in response to an information would breach the Data Protection Act 2018. We have applied the EIRs exemption 11(2)(Personal Data).
We have also redacted out information that was out-with the scope of your request as it dealt with other subjects not related to the proposed Galloway National Park.
How We Handled Your Request
We believe you have asked for environmental information as defined in the Environmental Information (Scotland Regulations 2004 (‘the EIRs’), so we are dealing with your request under those regulations. To be able to use the EIRs, we must apply an exemption under section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (‘FOISA’). The Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance recommends that public authorities apply this exemption to environmental information and handle request under the EIRs.
If you would like to find out more about the access to information legislation, there is a guidance booklet available on the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website.
