Information Request – Cannich Wildfire 2023
Your Request
‘Under FOI can you please detail the sums spent by yourselves in tackling the Cannich Wildfire of 2023. Please include sums such as staffing and personnel, equipment, helicopter costs and any other expenses used to extinguish the fire.’
Our Response
Following a search of the information we hold, in consultation with colleagues, we can confirm that we provided two argocats for use by the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service as required. The only costs associated with this was the time spent delivering and retrieving these from the Cannich fire Base, which was minimal. We do not hold any recorded costings associated with this event.
How We Handled Your Request
We believe you have asked for environmental information as defined in the Environmental Information (Scotland Regulations 2004 (‘the EIRs’), so we are dealing with your request under those regulations. To be able to use the EIRs, we must apply an exemption under section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (‘FOISA’). The Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance recommends that public authorities apply this exemption to environmental information and handle request under the EIRs.
