Response to Climate Change Committee assessment

15 March 2022

Responding to the publication today of the  UK Climate Change Committee‘s 2022 Report to Scottish Parliament, NatureScot Chief Executive Francesca Osowska said: “In its report today, the UK Climate Change Committee (CCC) reinforces the urgent need for bold action, delivered at pace, if we are to face up to and prepare for the impacts of the climate crisis in Scotland.

“The report highlights the importance of nature-based solutions such as peatland restoration to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change.

“As Scotland’s nature agency, we are stepping up action to meet this challenge with a future vision that will focus on reversing biodiversity loss and transforming how land and seas are used, managed and protected in Scotland.

“While we recognise that there is much to be done, we are building on the real progress that is already being made to protect, restore and value nature and deliver net zero in Scotland.”
