NatureScot Research Report 1013 - Survey of the Tayside area beaver population 2017-2018
A survey of the Tayside beaver population was carried out between 2017-2018. Comparisons were made with a previous survey from 2012. Beavers are spreading in distribution and are present throughout large parts of the Tay and Earn catchments, and there are small numbers of territories within the adjacent Forth catchment. The study identified 114 active beaver territories (which represents about 319-547 beavers) and 86 sites dams or removed dams. This compares to 38-39 territories identified in 2012.
