NatureScot Commissioned Report 406: Descriptions of Scottish Priority Marine Features (PMFs)
The purpose of this project was to produce a descriptive catalogue of the 81 priority marine features (PMFs) identified in Scotland’s seas. The catalogue serves as a valuable reference for ongoing nature conservation action.
Descriptions for each PMF comprise:
- an image
- a distribution map
- brief text to outline its characteristics, distribution and status
Where a PMF is made up of more than one habitat and/or species, the catalogue description covers all of its component parts.
A Geographic Information System (GIS) has been used to collate information about the distribution of the PMFs. This will be made available to view online and will be updated as new information emerges.
