The Natural Capital Asset Index 2023 - detailed model (data to 2021)
The Natural Capital Asset Index (NCAI) helps us assess Scotland's prosperity by tracking the capacity of Scotland's terrestrial ecosystems to provide the benefits that underpin our quality of life and that of future generations. The NCAI is a composite index using measures of the quantity and quality of the habitats in Scotland, the ability of these habitats to provide ecosystem services, and the habitats' importance to people, to determine the potential of nature in Scotland to contribute to people's well-being. This model is intended to help all people understand how nature in Scotland can benefit people in its current condition. You can download the NCAI data in the attached spreadsheet.
