Information Request – Sutherland Space Port Peatland Restoration
Your Request
Please advise what the arrangements are for peat restoration now that the Sutherland Space Port has been mothballed.
Clarified Request
I am looking for information from the date when the project was agreed.
Our Response
We have discussed your request with the Operations Team who deal with this area and after searching the information that they hold and found two documents that meet the terms of your request.
The extent and methods of peatland restoration were agreed prior to determination of the planning application for the Sutherland Spaceport. After determination, it is the responsibility of the planning authority to ensure that any planning conditions are met, which would include the arrangements for delivering peatland restoration
We have redacted out personal data from the information being released to you, under the EIRs exemption 11(2)(Personal Data).
How We Handled Your Request
We believe you have asked for environmental information as defined in the Environmental Information (Scotland Regulations 2004 (‘the EIRs’), so we are dealing with your request under those regulations. To be able to use the EIRs, we must apply an exemption under section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (‘FOISA’). The Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance recommends that public authorities apply this exemption to environmental information and handle request under the EIRs.
If you would like to find out more about the access to information legislation, there is a guidance booklet available on the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website.
