Information Request – Surveys of Coille Coire Chuilc SSSI
Your Request
I have been informed that a number of surveys of the wood may have been conducted since the 1970s. I would be grateful if you could provide me with copies of all surveys (or information relating to when and by who surveys were undertaken if you do not have copies) and any other information you hold on the state of CCC between 1970 and 15th December 2025.
Our Response
We have searched many files, both hard copy, which had to be retrieved from off-site storage, and our electronic records management system. The information that meets the terms of your request is provided separately to this response.
We have redacted out personal data from this information, as releasing this information in response to your request would breach the Data Protection Act 2018. We have exempted this personal data under the EIRS, using the exemption 11(2)(Personal Data).
Please be aware that despite our best efforts some of the information, from the hard copy files, may not be of the best quality, due to its age and how the information was recorded e.g. pen/pencil, typewritten.
How We Handled Your Request
We believe you have asked for environmental information as defined in the Environmental Information (Scotland Regulations 2004 (‘the EIRs’), so we are dealing with your request under those regulations. To be able to use the EIRs, we must apply an exemption under section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (‘FOISA’). The Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance recommends that public authorities apply this exemption to environmental information and handle request under the EIRs.
If you would like to find out more about the access to information legislation, there is a guidance booklet available on the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website.
