Information Request – SSSI cases
Your Request
‘I am currently writing a research paper on SSSI sites in Scotland, and was hoping to make a request to clarify some points before I write these. There is information online, but conflicting. I am trying to find out
1-what date did NatureScot (SNH) commission the shelter to be built at Achanarras quarry SSSI.
also
2- Case COR152745 details.
3-Case COR140301 details.’
Our Response
Following a search of the information we hold our response is below.
Achanarras quarry SSSI
The shelter was commissioned (tender successful) in November 2006 and the official opening of the new facilities, which included interpretative panels, was in June 2008. The information is attached separately.
We have redacted personal data from the documents because releasing personal data into the public domain in response to an access to information request would breach the Data Protection Act 2018. We are therefore withholding the information under 11(2) (Personal Data) of the EIRs.
Case COR152745
Case COR140301
We provided information in relation to these two cases in response to an earlier Freedom of Information request from you dated 16th May 2019, reattached for ease. We have no further information in our records to share.
How We Handled Your Request
We believe you have asked for environmental information as defined in the Environmental Information (Scotland Regulations 2004 (‘the EIRs’), so we are dealing with your request under those regulations. To be able to use the EIRs, we must apply an exemption under section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (‘FOISA’). The Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance recommends that public authorities apply this exemption to environmental information and handle request under the EIRs.
If you would like to find out more about the access to information legislation, there is a guidance booklet available on the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website.
