Information Request – Atlantic Salmon Trust Funding
Your Requests
As your two requests are directly linked, we are dealing with them both in one response.
‘Can you tell me the total amount of money the Atlantic Salmon Trust received from Scottish Government in the last five years. I would be grateful if you could give me the amount of money for each year.’
‘According to the request about funding that we are paying to the Atlantic Salmon Trust, can you tell me the total amount of money their ‘West Coast Tracking Project’ project received?’
Our Response
Following a search of the information we hold we can confirm two grant awards have made to the Atlantic Salmon Trust through the Scottish Government’s Nature Restoration Fund in the last five years. NatureScot administers the fund on behalf of the Scottish Government.

We do not hold records of any other Scottish Government funding to the Atlantic Salmon Trust. A Freedom of Information request can be made to the Scottish Government via their FOI website page.
How We Handled Your Request
We believe you have asked for environmental information as defined in the Environmental Information (Scotland Regulations 2004 (‘the EIRs’), so we are dealing with your request under those regulations. To be able to use the EIRs, we must apply an exemption under section 39(2) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (‘FOISA’). The Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance recommends that public authorities apply this exemption to environmental information and handle request under the EIRs.
If you would like to find out more about the access to information legislation, there is a guidance booklet available on the Scottish Information Commissioner’s website.
