We are currently developing an online licensing system that will allow for the application, issuing, amending, renewing, returning and reporting of licences all to be done online. This is a gradual process and we will be releasing different functions of the system or licensing areas at different stages.
We will update this page regularly to let you know what has been released and therefore can be done online, what we are currently working on and what we will be working on in the not too distant future.
What have we already released?
So far we have released the ability to register traps used under General Licences (a function NatureScot took over from Police Scotland in April 2020) and also the ability to apply for a Standard Forestry Operations (SFO) licence for works around a badger sett.
Trap registration - the online trap registration system allows the user of traps under General Licences 01 and 02, to register the use of traps. It also allows users to register to use meat baits within their traps. Currently, you won’t be able to use this system to check or amend the details you submit at a later date, if you need to check or amend the details you submitted, you can contact us via email. You can read more about this on our trap registration page.
SFO Licence – the online SFO licence system allows the proposed licence holder to apply for works around badger setts from 1st July to 30th November under our SFO licence. Currently the online system does not allow for the application to be made by someone other than the licence holder. Initially, you also won’t be able to use this system to check or amend the details you submit at a later date, if you need to check or amend the details you submitted, you can contact us via email. You can read more about this on our badgers and land management page.
Current and upcoming work
Over the next few months we will be working on the following product:
- Gull health and safety licence applications.
How you can help?
We want our new systems to be fit for purpose and they need to meet the requirements of our customers, therefore user testing is essential. If you are interested in helping with our using testing for any of the upcoming areas above, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and which of the areas above you’d be happy to help us test.
If you already have a licence number, include it in the subject line of your email, or have it to hand when you call.
