NatureScot Commissioned Report 563: Fall of Warness Tidal Test Site: additional acoustic characterisation
This project characterises the ambient underwater noise levels at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) tidal test site in the Fall of Warness, Orkney. Early surveys were hindered by poor weather and equipment failures, but two excellent datasets were collected in March 2012. Major contributors to the sound field were identified as flow noise, precipitation noise, shipping noise and the tidal energy converter devices operating at the site.
