Access to information and services
NatureScot has various duties as a public body – including equality, access to information and Gaelic usage.
It’s our responsibility as a public body to consider how we can contribute to a more equal society. We do this by advancing equality of opportunity and good relations in our day-to-day business, and ensuring we eliminate unlawful discrimination.
By law, we must make much of our information routinely available. You can also ask us to disclose other types of information, by making a Freedom of Information request or a subject access request. Some of our information can be used freely for non-commercial purposes.
We were one of the public bodies asked to create a Gaelic Language Plan to help keep the language alive. We’re dedicated to promoting Gaelic usage and employ a Gaelic Officer to inspire its take-up. Gaelic is a unique yet fragile resource – like many of Scotland’s natural habitats and species – and we’re doing our bit to protect it too.
