NatureScot Commissioned Report 931, 932, 933, 934: Assessing the nature and use of corvid cage traps in Scotland: Part 1 of 4 - Questionnaire survey of corvid trap users in Scotland
This work examined the current use of, and risks associated with the use of, all corvid traps permitted under NatureScot general licences for birds.
Its findings will be used to improve the clarity of general licences and to ensure that traps permitted for use under these licences are adequately described and can operate humanely and selectively.
The research will inform the development of our general licences and possibly a code of practice to govern the use of traps under these licences.
Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA) and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) carried out the work. A steering group of RSPB, British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), NatureScot and Scottish Government representatives oversaw the project.
The findings of the research are published as a series of four reports.
