SNH Research Report 1094 - Survey of Brachyptera putata (Newman) (Plecoptera, Taeniopterygidae) - a stonefly endemic to Scotland

The Northern February red stonefly is globally restricted to rivers in the Scottish Highlands.  From recent larval records it was believed to only be found in the Cairngorms: in the River Dee and tributaries; and the River Spey.  This report describes a new technique to survey for adults, confirms the species in the Dee and Spey, as well as a new record from River Conon, near Marybank.
