Scotland’s People and Nature Survey (SPANS) was commissioned in 2013 by Scottish Natural Heritage with support from Forestry Commission Scotland, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority, Cairngorms National Park Authority and greenspace scotland. SPANS provides information on how people living in Scotland use, enjoy and value the natural environment. The survey ran between March 2013 and February 2014; it will be repeated in 2016 and every third year thereafter until 2022. This technical report describes the survey methodology, including details of fieldwork approaches, sampling and data analysis methods.
