Biodiversity delivery agreements and statements

Delivery Agreements commit the Scottish Government and its partners to delivering biodiversity for Scotland.

What is a Delivery Agreement?

The 2020 Challenge for Scotland's Biodiversity notes that the Scottish Government will develop ‘Delivery Agreements’ with partners. Through these, the Government invites them to commit to helping deliver the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy.

Delivery Agreements are intended to be concise, strategic documents that set out the commitments that an organisation is making to deliver biodiversity.

There are a variety of benefits of preparing Delivery Agreements:

  • They enable public bodies to clearly state how they are fulfilling their biodiversity duty and provide a basis for reporting.
  • They provide and example for other bodies to follow, encouraging greater action towards the common aims of the 2020 Challenge.
  • They enable organisations to demonstrate the contribution they are making to international biodiversity goals, such as the Aichi Targets.
