SNH and the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020 - #YCW2020

Scotland’s coasts and waters will be showcased in 2020 with a themed year designed to inspire both visitors and locals to explore and experience our unrivalled shores, rivers, lochs and waterways. Led by VisitScotland, the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020 (YCW2020) aims to build on the momentum of previous themed years to celebrate and promote opportunities to enjoy Scotland’s fantastic coasts and waters, encouraging responsible engagement and participation.

Message in a Bottle

Full version of the Message in a Bottle music and animation commissioned by Scottish Natural Heritage for the Year of Coasts and Waters 2020, with music by Ingrid Henderson and animation by Cat Bruce.

The year will focus on unique, authentic experiences and sustainable tourism, with the following four key strands:

  • Our Natural Environment and Wildlife
  • Our Historic Environment and Cultural Heritage
  • Activities and Adventure
  • Food and Drink

Scotland’s coasts and waters are rich in life and colour and draw visitors from around the globe. As part of YCW2020, SNH wants to encourage and inspire people to explore our wonderful coasts and waters. To achieve this, SNH is running a core programme of activities throughout 2020. Details of these events will be added here as they are launched.
