Peat depth and peatland condition data allows us to measure the amount of stored peat and estimate the carbon storage and greenhouse gas emissions in Scotland.
A peat depth and peatland condition survey is now needed before restoration work starts. Before starting a survey, you must discuss your project with a Project Officer. Please email [email protected] and we’ll arrange for one of the team to get in touch.
Please use the template and guidance below to record and submit your data. The guidance document sets out what you need to do before you start your survey and what you need to record in the field. The template captures the data in a consistent format to allow us to use the data effectively.
