Overcoming the barriers to effective rhododendron control

27 March 2019 Sharing Good Practice (SGP)

Although effective techniques for rhododendron control have been developed and a range of grants and other funding options have been available for some time, many control projects encounter a range of barriers in getting underway and in applying those techniques successfully. Winning the hearts and minds of the local community, matching the objectives and timescales of funders with work on the ground, achieving on-going monitoring and follow-up control, training and supporting volunteers are just some of these barriers. This event focussed on how to overcome these barriers to achieve long-term, sustainable rhododendron control.
