Natural benefits: The contribution of the natural environment to Community Planning Partnership priorities

The natural environment contributes to many important outcomes for Scotland’s people. This briefing outlines how nature and landscapes in urban and rural areas can support work towards the six national priorities set for Community Planning Partnerships (CPPs).

The six priorities are:

  • economic recovery and growth
  • employment
  • early years learning
  • safer and stronger communities
  • tackling health inequalities and promoting physical activity
  • improving outcomes for older people

Making better use of our greenspace, parks, nature reserves, paths and landscapes is a low-cost way to tackle such issues – now and in the future.

CPPs can find out from the briefing how to integrate the natural environment first into their strategy and then into their work. Examples of practical interventions are included.
