We’re keen to see Flanders Moss NNR used for outdoor learning for all ages and will support visits whenever we can.

If you’re interested in bringing a school, college or university group to Flanders Moss, please contact the reserve manager.

If you’re looking for ideas for activities on peatlands for your class, why not go to our Peatlands: Educational Activities for Schools page? Although written for Blawhorn Moss NNR, many of the activities are suitable for any peatland site.

This guide will help primary school teachers to run themed projects on peat and peatlands. It blends indoor and outdoor learning – with an emphasis on the interaction between peatlands and people over time. Some of the resources are more advanced and will be suitable for use in secondary schools.

Research

Reserves are used for a wide variety of research and survey projects, including individual informal surveys, student dissertations and academic study. We’re very keen to encourage this, as it adds to our understanding of the reserves and the wider natural heritage. We support research that is in line with the interests of the reserve.
