Explore a regional park

Three regional parks offer all sorts of ways to enjoy the outdoors within easy reach of Scotland’s Central Belt.

Pentland Hills Regional Park

Get out and about in the Pentland Hills, just south of Edinburgh. Four circular walks are ideal for younger visitors or shorter trips. Or you can take to the hills on foot, bike or horseback to explore all that the park has to offer. A biodiversity trail will entertain children, and there are three orienteering courses to try.

Good entry points to the park are Harlaw House Visitor Centre, Flotterstone Information Centre and Hillend Country Park.

Lomond Hills Regional Park

Scotland’s oldest regional park is in the heart of the Fife countryside, about 30 miles north of Edinburgh. Two car parks provide picnic tables and toilets, and access to the park’s many paths. Themed walks highlight interesting features to do with water, geology and the working landscape.

You can find further visitor facilities at Lochore Meadows Country Park and the Pitcairn Centre, Glenrothes.
