It’s rare to find woodland in north Caithness that’s accessible to the public. So Dunnet Forest, which is open to all, is hugely popular. Locals and tourists alike use the reserve as an educational resource and a place for recreation.
Dunnet Forest is a planted forest and part of Dunnet Links Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is just inland from Dunnet Bay’s beautiful sands – also well worth a visit.
NatureScot owns the reserve, while Dunnet Forestry Trust manages the forest as a community woodland.
