Ann an com-pàirteachas ri Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba, tha sinn air leabhran dà-chànanach fhoillseachadh airson cruth-tìre agus ainmean-àite Àrasaig agus Loch Seile a thaisbeanadh, a’ cleachdadh fiosrachadh farsaing às an sgìre agus rannsachadh eachdraidheil. Bhon chiad iomradh air ainmean ann an Loch Abar ann an linn Chaluim Chille, tha ainmean-àite a’ nochdadh nan lusan, nan ainmhidhean agus nan daoine a thug brosnachadh dhan sgìre seo, agus a fhuair brosnachadh aiste: bho uirsgeulan Oisein, obair Alasdair Mhic Mhaighstir Alasdair, na Fuadaichean agus suas gu muinntir an àite san naoidheamh linn deug.
In collaboration with Ainmean-Àite na h-Alba, we have produced a bilingual publication examining the landscape and place-names of Arisaig and Loch Shiel, using in depth local knowledge and historical research. From the earliest mention of names in Lochaber in the time of St Columba, place-names reflect the flora, fauna and people who have inspired and been inspired by this region: from Ossianic legends, the work of Alasdair MacMhaighstir Alasdair, the Clearances, right up to nineteenth century local characters.
