This report outlines our vision for the future role and management of parks and reserves in Scotland.
In Scotland, we manage many parks and reserves specifically for people and nature. Such places are popular destinations for both locals and tourists to enjoy Scotland’s internationally renowned nature and landscapes. They make a significant contribution to the Scottish Government’s priorities on health, well-being and tourism. In many cases, they are also important for sustainable economic growth.
In this report, find out how the impact of parks and reserves on Scotland’s health, well-being and tourism can be improved, and learn more about NatureScot’s role in this work. With a backdrop of public sector budget cuts, the report also outlines how greater collaborative effort in research and new thinking will be needed to cement the benefits that parks and reserves provide for people and nature.
