Information and Advisory Note 95 - The Inventory of Ancient and Long-Established Woodland Sites and the Inventory of Semi-Natural Woodlands (provisional)
The value of ancient semi-natural woodlands is widely recognised. There are separate inventories for ancient woodlands and semi-natural woodlands. They are widely used for woodland management, local planning and strategic policy development.
This advisory note describes the process of digitally capturing these inventories and identifying discrepancies. It reviews the methodology used to draw up the original inventories and explains how the revised inventories were developed.
It’s recommended reading anyone using the revised inventories and provides detailed guidance on how to go about it.
