Climate change and nature in Scotland

Scottish Ministers regard tackling climate change as essential if we’re to achieve sustainable economic growth. Climate change has major economic as well as social implications for people in Scotland and elsewhere.

Climate change also presents one of the biggest challenges for Scotland’s nature and landscapes. The Scottish Government’s Land Use Strategy and other related strategies outline how we should move forward.

This publication shows how nature helps us to cope with climate change – and how we can help nature to cope with our changing climate. It also sets out the NatureScot priorities in relation to this urgent issue.
