Broad Habitat - Improved Grassland

This habitat is widespread and very common throughout the lowlands of Scotland and the UK as a whole. It is found mainly on deep but well-drained more or less neutral soils of high fertility. Within the enclosed lowlands this is by far the most extensive type of grassland. It is less extensive in the uplands, where most of the grassland is semi-natural and unimproved.
