We regularly commission research into natural heritage issues to ensure that the advice we give is well informed.

Nature is complex, and so too are the interactions between nature and how people use it. So it’s vital that our work, decisions and advice are based on the best available understanding of how nature works.

NatureScot spent almost £5.5 million on research in 2014–15. We published more than 130 commissioned reports in 2015 alone.

Search our publications and documents to download any of these reports and many more besides.
