Equality and diversity

We welcome diversity, ensure that individuals are treated equally and fairly, and foster a culture of inclusivity.

We’re committed to promoting diversity and equality for employees and customers, and in the care and enjoyment of Scotland’s nature.

It’s also the law that all Scottish public bodies abide by the public sector equality duty, which came into effect in 2011.

As well as eliminating unlawful discrimination, all public bodies must advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.

Scottish Ministers have also set us specific duties to help us to meet this general equality duty. As part of the specific duties, we must publish and make available certain information, which you can find in this section.

Carrying out Equality Impact Assessment is another of our specific duties. This lets us see how our activities might affect the various aspects of equality.

In 2016, the specific duties were amended to include a new duty on Board diversity.

NatureScot is a Disability Confident employer.
